Meditation at cellular level.
This is a really long article yet overflowing with information, it is the combined work of me and my friend Vivaan. The science and spiritual proof of the benefits of meditation.
Everything in our daily lives, from our simplest actions to our most complex decisions, begins with a single fundamental source that everyone is well aware of, our thoughts. The profound impact of our thoughts on our existence raises important questions about their influence. How significantly do our thoughts shape our daily lives, and could we bring any transformations in our life by altering them. Mindfulness, encompassing meditation and reflective awareness offers insights by heightening our awareness of both our internal mental landscapes and the external environment surrounding us.
To succeed in this overly competitive world, the key is to slow down for a while. To us the act of simply sitting down and breathing in silence seems impossible because of the endless sources of entertainment that is merely a few touches away on your latest smartphone. One click and you’ll be watching your favorite movie, instead of waiting in lines and buying a ticket, it is all available to you within the walls of your house, how convenient right? It is quite the opposite. We feel like having everything available so easily is an amazing thing but the thing we don’t realize is how easy it becomes to waste our precious time. Instead of doing something worthwhile we choose to slug on our couch and watch our favorite show the entire day. The low cost membership providing you with infinite choices of TV shows seems like a phenomenal deal while we fail to realize it’s basically a trojan horse but, there’s a cure.
We’ve heard thousands of people tell us the benefits of meditation, to do it their way or some other way they’ve heard, but today I’ll explain that there are infinite ways, and you’re the one who will create it. You need to find out what works for you, you could search hours and hours trying to find the right method but it would never benefit you as much as doing it. It doesn’t matter whether you can sit for 2 minutes or 20 minutes, just start doing it. If compared, 10 hours of practice is much better than 10 hours of researching and formulating ideas in your head. No matter how hard you work, it all comes down to practice.
How should one meditate?
No matter how much you research online, you won’t find the answer you’re looking for. In the end it comes down to your personal preference, everyone has different methods which suits them best. You cannot ask a fish to climb a tree, it’ll fail and be scared for the rest of it’s life thinking it isn’t capable. That’s what happens when you try to replicate someone else’s footsteps, you start feeling helpless and incapable, constantly having someone telling you what to do will make you feel like that. Some of us give up right before making good progress, there goes our lack of patience.
Give yourself the time, take smaller steps. If you try to meditate for an hour on your first try, you’ll fail miserably (you may also fall asleep xd). The key is to focus on your breath while staring at a great black void present in front of your eyes. Sooner of later thoughts will start popping up in your head, it isn’t your fault, the brain has been wired this way that it would rather seek negative scenarios rather than sitting idle, that’s who you’re up against.
It is completely fine to get lost in your thoughts while meditating, happens to the best of us, but your goal is to realize that you randomly wandered off into the abyss without even realizing it and then coming back to the state where all you see is a void. Just 10 minutes everyday is enough to turn your entire life around. The answers we seek from the world are often found buried deep within us, sometimes oppressed thoughts and feelings may come up, you may sometimes feel immense joy or even heartbreak. Our goal is to feel our feelings, not to numb them out while watching content made to distort your brain function.
Biological proof
Your brain has a weird texture and folds around it, they’re called gyri and sulci. These grooves play a major role in cognitive development. If you compare a normal human brain with a monk that meditates on a daily basis, you’ll find out that the monk’s brain has more grooves, the increased surface area helps develop better and stronger neural connections, just by sitting and breathing for 10 minutes a day you would be increasing your brain power, crazy isn’t it?
Research underscores that cultivating a mindset that consistently reinforces positive thoughts not only enhances mental well-being but also positively impacts physical health. For instance, positive thoughts correlate with improved immune system function, as evidenced by reductions in Interleukin-6 (IL-6) levels. IL-6 is a type of a cell present in our immune system which does help the body with inflammatory responses but decreases our brain cognitive function, the lesser these cells, the better.
Moreover, effective meditation has been scientifically linked to slowing down telomere shortening. Telomeres, protective caps at chromosome ends, naturally shorten with each cell division due to imperfect DNA replication. This process is closely linked to aging and age-related diseases such as cardiovascular conditions, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis. By maintaining telomere length through meditation, individuals may mitigate the risk of these diseases, contributing to enhanced longevity and well-being.
Telomerase, the enzyme crucial for telomere maintenance during cell division, plays a pivotal role in cellular health preservation. Chronic stress can act as an inhibitor of telomerase, the enzyme responsible for maintaining telomere length, which is crucial for cellular health. When individuals experience chronic stress over extended periods, the body's stress response systems remain constantly activated. This prolonged activation can lead to dysregulation in various physiological processes, including those involved in cellular aging.
Despite varying resilience levels and coping capacities, mindfulness emerges as a promising approach to cultivate adaptive skills and achieve psychological thriving. Integrating mindfulness practices into daily routines enhances self-awareness, improves stress management, and enhances mental and physical health outcomes over the long term.
There’s a region in your brain called the Amygdala, it is a part of the limbic system. In simpler words it’s the anger and anxiety center of our brain. Just 10-15 minutes of meditation everyday can shorten the size of the Amygdala, you’ll slowly stop fearing things so much and get rid of that unwanted anxiety you’ve been pushing deep down within yourself with the help on cheap social media.
Coping
Mindfulness serves as a powerful tool for managing chronic stress, fostering present-moment awareness with openness, curiosity, and non-judgment. Here are several effective mindfulness practices:
Mindful Breathing: Focus on your breath to anchor yourself in the present moment, reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation. Deep breathing calms the nervous system and alleviates physical stress symptoms.
Body Scan Meditation: This practice involves systematically scanning and observing sensations throughout the body without judgment. It releases tension, enhances relaxation, and increases awareness of physical stress indicators for timely intervention.
Mindful Observation: Engage in observing your surroundings with fresh eyes, noticing details like natural sights or sounds. This practice shifts focus away from stressors, bringing calm and appreciation for the present moment.
By incorporating these mindfulness techniques into daily life, individuals can cultivate resilience, manage chronic stress effectively, and enhance their overall well-being.
Experiences
There have been monks who have been able to reattach severed limbs, heal the blind and even create objects out of thin air. You must be thinking this is bullshit and only a hoax, even I thought so when I first read these things but I was wrong. This is all possible once you realize that everything around you has a certain vibration to it.
The theory that we’ve heard that cat purrs can heal bones and accelerate bone growth, it is because the frequency of the sound the cat creates matches with the frequency our bones, this is called resonance. Once you understand and learn how to control your energy, your mind opens itself to new experiences, giving you room to discover more and letting your subconscious into the picture.
Only 10% of our brain is the conscious part, the rest belongs to the subconscious. You may have heard that people sometimes find the answers to problems in their dreams, that’s your subconscious working for you. The subconscious mind is a really large topic, may as well write about that. Patients with stage 4 cancer have been able to heal themselves by just the power of their mind and also having equal amounts of faith in yourself, that’s what counts. Stay healthy!
